The Polybius arcade cabinet.
In 1981, a video game company under the name of Sinnesloschen released a game called Polybius for testing in a few suburbs is Portland, Oregon.
The game proved very successful among those who played it, so successful people actually became addicted to it, some spending hundreds of dollars on it a day. Massive amounts of people lined up to play it.
However, the game could have some rather negative effects on the player.

If played for too long, the player could get headaches, nausea, and motion sickness. However, it could become much worse than that. People would often experience nightmares, hallucinations, night terrors, insanity, and people would commit suicide in some versions of the story.
Despite that, Sinnesloschen was planning to create thousands more cabinets and release to arcades all across the world.
Things were still going well for Polybius and Sinnesloschen, until one day.
Polybius fans would go to arcades and would be enraged to see that their precious arcade cabinet was gone, nowhere to be found.
It's rumored that men in black would break into arcades that had Polybius cabinets and destroy them. Shortly after, Sinnesloschen went out of business under mysterious circumstances.

The game was said to be similar to Tempest. You would be on a grid like battlefield in which you would shoot enemies, with Vector graphics.
It is still believed, however, that one arcade cabinet of Polybius still exists somewhere in the world.
In 1980 a game called "Derelix" was created for the Atari 2600 by an unknown company. The game has no cover art, or label, only 1 copy of it exists, and you can only play it at a certain time of day. The game must be played between 3:33 AM and 4:44 AM, if you don't play it between that time, the game will not work and it will break your Atari 2600.
Today, the game will be extremely difficult to find, it can't be found online or in any normal store. It's rumored that somewhere in the United States exists a store that has the game in a safe, in the back room. If you ask about it, they'll deny it's existence, if you ask again, they'll give you a warning. If you don't leave after they warn you, there's no going back.
The clerk will go to the back room and bring out a blank Atari cartridge. They will then give it to you for free, and you will be told to never go back to that store again.
Upon returning home, you must turn of all lights in the home, close all windows and doors, and lock them. Wait until 3:33 AM.
If you are impatient and don't wait until 3:33, nothing will happen once you start the game up, but it will fry your Atari system.
If you do wait, the title screen will say " WELCOME TO DERELIX, ENJOY YOUR STAY." Pressing the button will start the game.
It plays out like a normal platform game. You avoid obstacles and enemies. You have a total of 60 seconds to complete all 10 levels. It sounds pretty easy, but while all this is happening, you become more and more ill by each level.
Level 1 is a slight headache
Level 2 is mild nausea and a headache
Level 3 is nausea, a severe headache, and slight shaking.
Level 4 is vomiting, migraines, shaking, and you will begin to see horrible visions, distracting you from the game.
Level 5 is vomiting blood, severe migraines, violent shaking, horrible visions will become more and more horrible, and your heart rate will begin to increase.
Level 6 is chest pains, blurring visions, hearing noises, and the horrible visions continue to become worse.
Level 7 is horrible chest pains, near blindness, your heart rate will increase to very dangerous levels, and your TV will begin to flicker on and off.
Level 8, you will go completely blind, your heart will beat so fast it will hurt, and the horrible images will fill your mind.
Level 9, you will experience all of the other ailments from the previous levels.
Level 10, the final level, you will fight Satan himself in this level. All the pains shall stop on this level, but you will still be blind.
If you complete level 10, the game will shut off. You will be able to see again, you will never become ill again, you will have eternal happiness, and whatever item you want, you must simply wish for it, and you will have it. After beating the game, you must take it to another store, leave it on the counter, and say nothing.
However, if you don't complete the game, or turn your TV or Atari system off during the game, you will never be seen again. It is believed that you are sucked into the game and become one of the many hellish monsters with that game.
